christmas holidays work

Over the Christmas holidays we were asked to do some work on the planning side of our opening sequence we were asked to do :

1. Write up a detailed textual analysis (500-1000 words per film) on the opening sequence of 3-5 films of the same genre to your production. You should focus on the following: 1. How narrative and character and genre are established. 2. How the sequence uses 'micro' features, such as camerawork and editing to do the above.

2. Summarise your research into the key 5-10 bullet points which represent genre conventions in opening sequences for your genre.

3. You should summarise how you are going to use your research into similar products and how it will inform your product (i.e., what ideas and 'micro' features will you use and adapt).

We were also asked to do:

1.Do some research into target audiences. This could take the form of questionnaires, Internet or other research into box office figures, how films are promoted etc. You should attempt to make reference to how you will use this research to inform what you are going to do in your production.
